Secretary Candidate Page | Mikki Crosby | Lisa Dupuis
Lisa Dupuis’ candidate statement:
My fellow athletic trainers,
My name is Lisa Dupuis and I hope you will consider me for the position of Secretary of the New Hampshire Athletic Trainers’ Association. For the past eight years I have been an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Colby-Sawyer College where I also serve as a faculty member in the Athletic Training Education program. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education (Athletic Training concentration) from Southern Connecticut State University and a Master of Education degree from Boston College. I began my career at Salem (MA) High School, then completed a Residency at Boston College where I primarily worked with the football team, women’s ice hockey and track & field. After BC, I worked as an assistant athletic trainer at Lasell College before going on to teach full time at Salem State College (now Salem State University) where I also became the Clinical Coordinator. What I discovered about myself at Salem State was that even though I greatly enjoyed teaching, I missed interacting with patients. At Colby-Sawyer, I was very fortunate to find a situation that allowed me to do both.
I’ve learned something from every position I’ve held and I believe my years of knowledge and experience will help me serve you as Secretary. I created and developed a clinical record-keeping system for student-athletes in conjunction with a school nurse. I serve as the liaison to our team physician’s office for weekly clinic. I have developed strong communication skills, and strive to make interactions with students, coaches, colleagues and medical professionals effective and efficient. I have also developed an appreciation for the qualities and challenges that each setting presents. We may all be athletic trainers, but what that looks like for each of us can be different.
In the time I have been in New Hampshire, I have watched the NHATA grow as an organization. As Secretary, I believe I can contribute to that growth. I want to support my profession, my fellow athletic trainers, and the organization that supports us. I hope you will give me this opportunity to do more.
